The Cresswell Brothers - Enniskilleners in South Africa.
Mr. Wesley Charters, an old Portoran, and a resident of Enniskillen in his youth, who is now with the Sub Nigel Gold Mining Company in Dunnottar, Transvaal, in a letter says: It is with deep regret I write to inform you of the passing away within a couple of months of each other of two old Enniskillen boys, the brothers David and Arthur Cresswell. Their deaths occurred in Ladysmith, Natal, the former in the latter part of November and the other in September. Though I am afraid there may be but very few, if any, of the present day residents of Enniskillen who may remember them, I am assuming this item of sad news might be considered of sufficient interest for publication in your excellent paper, The Impartial reporter. Arthur Cresswell before leaving Enniskillen for South Africa, was employed as a clerical assistant to Mr. Arthur Ritchie, then Town Clerk, and David was with the firm of Falls and Pringle, Solicitors. As far as my memory serves me, they came out here sometime about the year 1905-6 together, and in the same ship. It is with great satisfaction and pride I can record that the brothers both made their mark in Natal.
